Gov. Fayose
Govenor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti in a letter dated April 12 has asked the Chinese Government not to give the $2bn loan requested by President Mohammadu Buhari during his recent visit to China. He fears that such a loan would spike the Nigeria’s debt burden. Already 25% of the annual budget is spent on servicing Nigeria’s debts.
According to Fayose, some of the projects for which the loan is being sought are not captured in the 2016 Budget. The Senate has sent the controversial budget to the president for his assent,
