The Saraki led Senate may have now sought to rattle the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Chairman, Justice Danladi Umar over the trial of Senator Bukola Saraki for alleged false declaration of assets.
Shortly after the Judge ruled in favour of day to day hearing of the matter and insisted on the daily attendance of Saraki, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions summoned the CCT Chairman to appear before it on Thursday.
However, Justice Umar replied the committee that he has a court sitting on Thursday and throughout the week. He said he would not be available until after the court sittings, which is on Saraki’s trial.
Editor’s Note: It seems that the era of impunity is back. This is simply legislative rascality. The invitation is lawless. There could be a judicial review of the actions of the legislature, but I don’t know any legal authority that supports the action of the Senators.
