Just days after Fulani Herdsmen kidnapped an Enugu State Auditor in Nsukka and got ransom for his release, they have struck again in Delta State. Taking this time a non-academic staff of the Delta State University Abraka, Mr John Ogeleke yesterday in Kwale.
This has been confirmed by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu. He said that the victim was travelling in his Nissan Pathfinder when he was seized at gunpoint. According to him four armed men of Fulani extraction had ambushed Ogeleke as they emerged from a nearby bush. A reliable community source has told The Vanguard that the kidnappers are now demanding N5m.
This new trend should occupy those at the DSS. The government needs to find out, and fast too, why these Herdsmen have resorted to kidnapping to raise money.
