The Suspects
Eagle eyed soldiers attached to 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza, Borno State have arrested eight suspected Boko Haram terrorists. The suspected terrorists were attempting to enter the town.
The military say the men were on a recruitment campaign.
Four others described as strategists for the terror group were also picked up in Kala Balge Local Government Area of the state by the 22 Task Force Brigade.
Over N637, 000 was found on one of the suspects named Abdullahi Yakubu. He was arrested near Gwoza. The army said Yakubu has been identified by another captureded Boko Haram suspects. He trades with Boko Haram, the Armay said. The others were confirmed to have participated in carrying out various terrorists acts for the sect.
The suspects said they are farmers from Shiadawey, Takwala and Amdaga Madachi villages.
Another 67-year-old resident of Gobara village, Ibrahim Bute, has also been arrested on the suspicion of being a Boko Haram bigwig. This was confirmed by the Acting Army Director of Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman
