Rasheed Gbadamosi
A former Minister for National Planning, Rasheed Gbadamosi, bought two luxurious penthouses in Panama, part of documents of the now notorious Panama Papers retrieved by PREMIUM TIMES have revealed.
Gbadamosi acquired the property while he was the Chairman of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA). He was recently appointed co-chairman of the Lagos at 50 planning committee.
In 2008, Gbadamosi paid N836.8 million ($2.6 million) for the penthouses located in “a swanky tower” in Panama.
According to Mossack Fonseca, the law firm at the center of the Panama Papers, Gbadamosi was so captivated about the properties and in his desire to acquire it by all means, he once offered to fly to Panama in a private jet to inspect them.
Taking into cognisance the age of Gbadamosi one wonders how many times he would even be able to set his eyes on these properties before he dies.
It is only part of mindless wealth accumulation by the elite – a legendary greed that twisted the destiny of the younger generation.
