Soldier who Killed Woman On Daughter’s Wedding Day Yet To Be Arrested

A trigger-happy soldier who yesterday in Uvwie council area of Delta State shot dead a woman, on her daughter’s wedding day, is still walking about a free man.

According to The Nation, the woman was killed by one of the soldiers deployed to enforce the no- movement restriction during environmental sanitation at Jakpa Junction, Uvwie. The woman’s name is Akparobi Orobogha.

It was gathered that the soldier had beckoned on the tricycle carrying the woman to stop, but the rider refused to heed and fled. Thereupon the soldier illegally shot at the fleeing tricycle, which killed the woman.

The incident has been confirmed by spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, Celestina Kalu (DSP), who said investigation was ongoing. Contrary to a military version, first child of the deceased, Alero,said at the Ekpan Police Station, where the case was reported, that the killer-soldier who killed her mother has not been arrested.
