Due to large scale fraud, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, GFATM has suspended further disbursement of funds to recipient organizations.
The discovery of the fraud, involving millions of dollars, was uncovered following an audit of grants to Nigeria by the Office of the Inspector General, OIG, a department of the Fund.
According to GFATM Executive Director, Global Fund, Mark Dybul, millions of US dollars are missing, irregularly spent or unaccounted for.
GFATM is an international financing institution that invests the world’s money to save lives.
