Djomnang
Barely 48 hours after Cameroon and Dinamo Bucharest midefielder, Patrick Ekeng collapsed during a match and died later in hospital, another Cameroon footballer has collapsed during warm-up to a match and also died in a hospital hours later.
The Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) has announced the death of Jeanine Christelle Djomnang on Sunday.
Fecafoot is assuming she died of a heart attack but it is now awaiting formal medical report.
Her teammate in the National team, African Women Footballer of the Year, Gaelle Enganamouit, who now plays in Sweden, said she was saddened by her death.
“It’s with sadness that I have learnt of the death of my team-mate Djomnang Jeanine Christelle of Femina Stars Ebolowa, may her soul rest in peace,” she wrote on social media.
