
The Police on Monday sealed the premises of Edo House of Assembly. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, more than 10 Hilux patrol vans and an armoured personnel carrier were strategically positioned within and around the state assembly complex.
In addition, regular and mobile police operatives positioned themselves at the Assembly’s three entry points. The Staff of the House of Assembly were prevented from going in.
The Police Public Relation Officer in Edo State, Mr Abiodun Osifo told NAN that the action was necessary to avoid breakdown of law and order and a repetition of what happened there last Wednesday.
There has been commotion in the Assembly after 16 members removed the Speaker, Mr Victor Edoro on Wednesday.
