The guilty are tight-lipped as Panama Papers database goes online

The guilty and those exposed were tight-lipped as the Panama Papers affair spread wide with a huge database of documents relating to more than 200,000 offshore accounts being posted online at 19:00 CET today @ offshoreleaks.icij.org.

It was published, as promised, by the International Consortium of Journalists. The Panama Papers exposed how some wealthy people, including corrupt Nigeria leaders and businessmen used offshore firms to hide ill-gotten wealth, evade tax and prosecution.

The papers belonged to Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca but were leaked by a source simply known as “John Doe” to the German Newspaper, Suddeutsche Zeitung.

Over 100 Nigerian businessmen and politicians are alleged to have offshore accounts, including the president of the senate, Bukola Saraki and Senator David mark.
