Attempted jail break by gunmen on Port Harcourt Prisons has been thwarted by agile security men. It has been learnt that the attack was mounted to free some inmates.
Terrifying gunfire was reported around the prison early today. The number of casualties is yet to be ascertained.
Both the Controller of Prisons and his deputy have been unavailable for an official version.
