Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode as he arrived at the EFCC office yesterday
It is alleged that Fani-Kayode got N840 of the money and the commission insisted last night that he must return the money.
A source at the EFCC said that one of the conditions to me met before he will be granted administrative bail, include an undertaking that Fani-Kayode will return what he illegitimately got.
According to the source, evidence was shown to him that the former Minister of Finance, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, who was also received N2.5 billion, had refunded N140 million, in addition to surrendering two houses in Abuja, to regain her freedom.
However, Fani-Kayode, who did not deny receiving the fund, said that he expended the money for the purpose for which it was released to him. That is for the prosecution of the 2015 presidential election, in which he was the Spokesman and head of media of the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Presidetial Campaign.
Also yesterday, the EFCC extended its dragnet and it caught Idongesit Nkanga. He was a former Military Administrator of Akwa Ibom State and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (retd) was arrested in Port Harcourt by operatives of the EFCC for allegedly collecting N450 million from the slush $115million deposited by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke with Fidelity Bank.
He also spent the night in EFCC’s custody and would be charged to court soon.
