World No.1 Serena Williams beat fellow American Madison Keys in straight sets, 7-6 (7-5) 6-3, to win the Italian Open in Rome. It is her first WTA title in nine months.
It was her fourth triumph in Rome since 2002.
Williams, 34, last won a title in Cincinnati in August last year. Since then, she has lost finals at the US Open, Australian Open and Indian Wells.
