As posturing for the upcoming Edo state Governorship election thickens, a governorship aspirant in the State, Blessing Agbomhere has threatened Governor Adams Oshiomhole with expulsion from the party unless he tenders an apology to the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC for demeaning party leaders.
Agbomhere dropped the threat at a press conference in Abuja yesterday, while reacting to comments credited to the governor during a visit by the Olagunsoye Oyinlola-led APC fact-finding/reconciliation committee.
Oshiomhole was quoted as claiming that there was no problem in the state chapter of the party and that the national secretariat of the party should first settle the crisis at the national level before “shedding crocodile tears” about Edo State.
Agbomhere considers the governor’s utterances and conduct unstatesmanlike. “The utterance is an attempt by Adams Oshiomhole to tarnish the image of the national secretariat of the APC and blackmail it into abandoning the Edo APC to his dictates and desperation to impose his close ally and business partner on Edo people.
“The governor does not have any right to insult the national secretariat of the party, a man who has never voted for the party.
“If Adams Oshiomhole is truly a member of the APC, who believes in the party’s constitution, he should have known that his godson is not qualified to be the governor of Edo State.
“Considering my contributions to the party, I am more qualified than Adams Oshiomhole’s candidate. Economically, I will dwarf him, and in character, I will thrash him.”
As far as Agbomhere is concerned, either the governor apologizes and seeks forgiveness from the party or he will be thrown out.
