There were jubilations yesterday at the headquarters of The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Abuja as news over the sack of its Comptroller-General, Martin Abeshi broke.

No reasons were given for his sack by the Federal Government, but it was leant that it is linked with his handling of the recent replacement in the service.

Staffs of NIS were seen jubilating when the news made landfall at their headquarters. The replacement, which was awfully abused by power brokers in the country, saw the CG allegedly employing his third wife and his eldest son into the service. Both recruits, according to informants, are under-going training in Kano.

By the time Abeshi was chosen in September 2015, he was already been penciled down to proceed on a three-month terminal leave, starting from October 2015.

This caused unhappiness within the NIS and led to a running battle between Abeshi and some DCGs, and ACGs, who were unhappy that he was still much around when he ought to have retired from service.
