An Abuja High Court has ordered the Federal Government to allow former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki unimpeded access to his lawyers at a neutral place, instead of the premises of the DSS headquarters in Abuja.
This is to enable him prepare adequately for his defence.
Justice Husain Baba Yusuf gave the order in Abuja yesterday and directed that Dasuki should be allowed by DSS operatives to meet with his lawyers within the premises of the Federal Capital Territory Judiciary Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja between Monday and Friday this week.
The judge ruled that Dasuki must be brought to the premises of the Abuja High Court as a neutral ground before Friday and be allowed unhindered access to his lawyers.
The instruction followed a complaint by Dasuki’s lawyer, Mr Adeola Adedipe that his legal team had not been allowed direct access to him, despite a court order made on April 6 to that effect.
The former NSA was arraigned before Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf on multiple charges, bordering on diversion of public funds up to N13. 6bn.
