There is shock across Mexico over the kidnapping of national team player, Alan Pulido after he left a party in Ciudad Victoria and was driving home with his girlfriend, a State official has announced.

According to local media reports, a convoy of vans had blocked his way and the kidnappers extracted him and the girlfriend out of their car. The girlfriend was immediately released, while Pulido was whisked away to an unknown destination.

Already a manhunt for the Olympiacos Piraeus player has started. The kidnappers have so far refused to establish any kind of contact with Pulido’s family.

The incident happened in Tamaulipas State in the Northeast which, due to drug trade and kidnapping, is the most dangerous part of Mexico.

Pulido has played six times for his country and scored 4 goals. In the just concluded season, he scored five times in eight appearances with Olympiacos.

Pulido left home club, Tigres in 2014 to take his trade to Europe. However, he has been in a dispute with the Mexican club as to whether his contract with them continues to be valid.
National team coach, Carlos Osorio recently said Pulido has the quality to be in his squad, but he has left him out as a result of the legal dispute.
