Tompolo accuses Nigerian Army of Looting Gbaramatu kingdom

Ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a.Tompolo, yesterday accused the Nigerian army of unspeaking crimes against his people and of looting Gbaramatu Kingdom under the guise that they were looking for him and members of the Niger Delta Avengers.

He said that the invasion has again shown that the Nigerian government was only interested in the Niger Delta oil.

In a letter, personally signed by him, begging the Niger Delta Avengers to cease fire in the interest of the Niger Delta region and the country, Tompolo regretted that the “Nigerian Army invaded the ancestral headquarters of the kingdom, Oporoza town, under the guise of looking for members of your group, particularly me, who they have wickedly linked to your group, and unleashed mayhem on the innocent people of the community.”

The ex-MEND leader added, “And this happened in my absence as I am currently out of Gbaramatu kingdom, but what I gathered from some of the victims of the Army invasion is unspeakable. Even pots of soup were not spared. The Army has massively looted resident homes, desecrated traditional places of worship, committed sacrilege, abominations and what have you.”

Tompolo, in the letter, re-emphasised that he is a man of peace and denied again of having anything to do with the new group, Niger Delta Avengers. He said that he did not even know how to contact them, which is why he resorts to writing them through the press.
