Promising Ivory Coast defender, Eric Bailly of Villareal, Spain is Jose Mourinho’s first signing as coach of Manchester United. At least what has been made official. The club announced this on its website.
The 22-year-old, winner of 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast, has signed a four year contract subject to being granted a work permit and will cost the Red Devils about £30 million.
The Ivorian defender moved to Spain when he was just 17, joining defence conscious club, Espanyol. Bailly was magnificent last season, helping Villarreal to concede only 35 goals in 38 league matches. Villareal reached the Europa League semi-finals.
It was reported that Swedish international, Zlatan Ibrahimovic had signed for Man Utd, but that is still to be mad public. Ibrahimovic, whose contract with PSG of France expries this summer, is currently with the Swedish national team as they prepare for the European Championships, starting on June 10 in France.
