
Justice Steven Evoh Chukwu of the Federal High Court Abuja, who was handling cases involving the election of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and former Adamawa Murtala Nyako and his two children for corruption, died yesterday in a hospital in Garki, Abuja.
He was said to have been sick for about a month before his death. The Federal High Court is yet to officially announce his demise, but top officials of the court confirmed it.
Before his death, Justice Chukwu was handling major cases such as the trial of former Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako and his two children; the trial of former officials of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Sani Lulu, Taiwo Ogunjobi and others.
The case instituted by five Senators, led by Abu Ibrahim, seeking the nullification of the election of Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu as Senate President and Deputy President, was also before his court.
