The U.S. President, Barack Obama on Thursday endorsed former US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton for president. He made this known in a video he posted on Clinton’s website. The president, who had been fair all through the campaign season for the democratic presidential ticket, had refused to endorse any of the candidates but finally did the needful after Clinton secured the Democratic Party’s nomination on Tuesday. However, he met first with her rival, Bernie Sanders on Thursday before the endorsement.
“I’m with her, I am fired up and I cannot wait to get out there and campaign for Hillary”, Obama said in the video.
Sanders said after the meeting with the president that he would continue to campaign through the primary. Though he failed to endorsing Clinton, he gave impression that he has read the handwriting on the wall. He said he will meet with her in the coming days and vowed to do everything he can to stop Republican candidate Donald Trump from winning the presidency.
Clinton on Tuesday declared herself the party’s presumptive nominee after reaching the magic number of delegates needed to secure nomination as the flag-bearer of the Democratic party in November elections.
