
Hungary has defeated favourites, Austria 2-0 at Matmut Atlantique to go top of Group F with three points. Adam Szalia put his country 1-0 up in the 63 minute when he slipped through the heart of Austrian defence to sidefoot from close range.
Zoltan Stieber made sure of the three points three minutes from time in almost a solo effort, which he ended with a beautiful chip over the Austrian keeper.
Austria’s Alexander Dragovic was sent off in the 66th minute when he bagged his second yellow card for his foul on Tamas Kadar.
Hungary last played in the European Championship in 1972, when they finished fourth.
