Despite the two-week ceasefire announced by the Federal Government last week, soldiers this morning invaded Okpelama, an Ijaw community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State in five gunboats. They were hunting for militants.

Meanwhile operatives of the Nigeria Navy Ship, NNS Delta on Tuesday said they arrested three persons suspected to be pipeline bombers and oil thieves. Commodore Raimi Mohammed had confirmed the arrests to the Vanguard.

However a villager contradicted the naval story. He said: “Three youths from Tebijor were unlawfully arrested today (Tuesday) by Nigerian Navy. The youths were coming from fetching mangrove sticks to set a fishing trap when they were apprehended by navy personnel on patrol at Tebijor.”

It is now left to be seen how the militant groups respond to this.
