The embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and two other pro-Biafra agitators, David Nwawusi and Benjamin Madubugwu, have dragged the judge handling their case, Justice John Tsoho before the National Judicial Council, NJC. The trio, standing trial on six-count of treason, insist that the trial judge must recuse himself from the matter on grounds of “misconduct and manifest bias”.
Based on the petition dated April 26 the defendants on Monday asked Justice Tsoho to temporarily recuse himself. They filed the motion on a day the Federal Government was ready to start calling its witnesses, who were in court to testify against Kanu and co-accused persons.
A lawyer from office of the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP, Mr. M. S. Labaran confirmed the petition, but he however alleged that it is a plot by the defendants to scuttle their trial.
