From all indications, President Muhammadu Buhari has chosen a northerner as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP). Ibrahim Idris has been appointed the Acting new Inspector General of Police. He replaces Solomon Arase whose tenure officially expired yesterday.

Arase and Idris just left President Mohammadu Buhari’s office at the Villa after a brief meeting. Official statement regarding the replacement is being awaited.
Until now Idris served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of federal operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja. He hails from Niger State.
