Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State continues to be ahead of his peers in giving governance a human face. After flagging off the free lunch programme recently in all primary schools in the state, he has now directed the transition committee chairmen of the 17 local government areas in the state to appoint two physically challenged persons each from their areas as special assistants. This, in his view, will help reduce unemployment in the state.
The directive came after an appeal to the governor by disabled persons in the state, who said they are qualified and could contribute to the development of the state if given the chance..
Ikpeazu spoke at the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, at a town hall meeting for Abia South senatorial zone for the people of Obingwa, Aba South and Aba North LGAs. The governor assured that his administration would carry everybody along.
He also said that N4billion has been provided for the renovation of primary schools across the state.
Under the programme, ten primary schools will to be rehabilitated in each of the 17 LG
