EFCC Finally Arraigns Fani-Kayode, Nenadi-Usman On Alleged N4.9 billion Money-Laundering Charges
Finally the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on today arraigned a former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode. He and three others are accused of laundering N4.9 billion.
Fani-Kayode was supposed to have been docked last Teusday but it was stalled due to the absence of the trial judge.
Fani-Kayode, who functioned as director of media and publicity during the campaign of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, faces a 17-count charge bordering on unlawful retention, use, and payment of money to the tune of about N4.9 billion.
His co-accused persons are Nenadi Usman, former finance minister, Danjuma Yusuf and a company, Joint Trust Dimension Nig. Ltd. The EFCC alleges that the accused were alleged to have committed the offences between January and March 2015.
After trial preliminaries, Justice Sule Hassan adjourned the case to July 1 for hearing of the bail applications. He ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody until their bail applications are determined.
