The Police Service Commission has approved the retirement of the controversial Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, Joseph Mbu and 20 others. They were those who were senior to the new acting IG, Idris Ibrahim, before his appointment.

The appointment of Ibrahim as the acting IGP may have caused the Nigerian Police to lose a chunk of its experienced officers.

The AIGs retired are Bala Hassan, Yahaya Ardo, Irmiya Yarima, Danladi Mshebwala, Tambari Mohammed, Bala Nasarawa, Musa Abdulsalam, Adisa Bolanta and Mohammed Gana.

Others are Umaru Manko, Lawal Tanko, Olufemi Adenike, Johnson Ogunsakin, Adenrele Shinaba, James Caulcrick, Olufemi Ogunbayode, Edgar Nanakumo, Kalafite Adeyemi, Patrick Dokumor, Joseph Mbu and Sabo Ringim.

The Head, Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statment released in Abuja yesterday said the Chairman of the Commission, Mike Okiro thanked the affected officers for their meritorious service to their fatherland and wished them well in their new endeavours.
