The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary board has just in a Paris hotel dismissed proceeding against Liverpool center-back, Mamadou Sahko for anti-doping violation. It therefore means that the defender will not face formal charges.
Sakho, 26, who has now won the battle that shows that he is not on drugs, was banned by UEFA for 30 days until results of a full investigation into an anti-doping violation are out. As a result, he was excluded from first-team duty by Liverpool.
The alleged offence related to the Liverpool’s Europa League game at Manchester United in March, and it concerned a “fat-burning” substance.
In May UEFA decided not to extend Sakho’s suspension. The football governing body was even deliberating whether the substance, for which Sakho tested positive, should even be on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) banned list.
Sakho’s 30-day suspension ended on May 28. It made him miss the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla. He was also not part of France’s squad for this summer’s European Championship in his country.
He was however part of Liverpool’s preseason training on Saturday as the Reds prepare for the 2016-17 season.
