
Wales’ history-making performance at the just concluded Euro 2016 has lifted Chris Coleman’s team 15 places to 11th position and helped them leapfrog England in the latest FIFA World Rankings released today.
Wales lost to England in the group stage, but went on to defeat Northern Ireland and Belgium, the second best team in the world, before they were downed 0-2 by Portugal.
European Champions Portugal climbed to sixth, while finalists, France scaled 10 spots to seventh.
England were a shadow of themselves in France. Their poor performance saw them drop two spots to 13th. Iceland are now in 22nd position, above Netherlands, who failed to make the 2016 championship.
Though they lost Copa America Centanario final to Chile, Argentina remains the best team in the world on 1st position, followed by Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile.
