The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the elevation of 22 Commissioners of Police (CP), to the rank of Assistant Inspectors -General of Police( AIG).
Also promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police are 29 Deputy CommissionersOf Police. This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the Commission in Abuja on today.
Ani said the promoted 29 commissioners were screened by a panel headed by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr Mike Okiro. He said the promotions were based on the recommendation of availability of vacancies in the AIG and CP cadres of the Force occasioned by reorganisation in the Force.
Ani said the commission also considered the issue of seniority and diligence of the Officers. “Majority of the new AIGs had already been posted to zonal commands and other police formations while nine of the CPs had been posted as command CPs,”he said.
