The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has made good her threat and dragged Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, to court for maligning her name by alleging that she was one of those indicted in the Halliburton multi-million dollar scandal, Premium Times reports.
The First Lady had always denied involvement in the scandal, with a threat to sue Fayose if he did not stop tarnishing her image by linking her with a scam, she says she knows nothing about.
The authorities in the United States had also clarified that the Aisha involved in the Halliburton scandal is not the president’s wife. Also a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde, who investigated the Halliburton scandal during his tenure, had likewise said that Aisha had nothing to do with the fraud.
However, Fayose still insists that the president’s wife was involved in the scandal, as he alleged that the Federal Government’s anti-corruption war was selective and politically vindictive.
