The Court of Appeal, Abuja on Tuesday reserved judgments in six appeals filed against two judgments of the Federal High Court, Abuja, sacking Okezie Ikpeazu as governor of Abia State.

Recall that Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in his June 27 judgement in suits filed by Samson Ogah and Obasi Ekeagbala, had ordered Ikpeazu to vacate his office and that INEC should issue a certificate of return to Ogah – an order INEC hurriedly obeyed even when it knew that Ikpeazu had filed an appeal against the judgement.

The court, after listening to parties’ final submissions and adopted their briefs of argument, reserved judgments in the appeals.

The appeals included three filed by Ikpeazu, two appeals filed by the PDP and one filed by Friday Nwosu, a PDP governorship candidate, who came fifth in the party’s primary.

Nwosu’s suit against Ikpeazu was dismissed by the Federal High Court, Owerri over his failure to prove the forgery allegation against the governor.

Ikpeazu, represented by 37 lawyers, including eight Senior Advocates of Nigeria led by Wole Olanipekun, faulted the judgments of Justice Okon Abang and urged the Appeal Court to set them aside.
