Former Bayern Munich manager, Pep Guardiola has started with an unconvincing 2-1 win at Etihad over Sunderland in his first league game in charge as Man City manager.
But it was a nervous victory for Guardiola, who continued his City revolution by dropping first choice keeper Joe Hart. Defoe had silenced the arena when he scored in his 16th PL season in the 70th minute to equalise for Sunderland after Aguero put City 1-0 ahead through a penalty with only four minutes played.
It took only an own goal by debutant Patrick McNair three minutes from time to save Guardiola from a looming embarrassment and hand him his first PL victory as manager. However, he must have learned that in the Premier League, points are not presented on a platter.
