Attempt by The Foxes to continue their last season’s amazing run was thwarted by Hull City at KCOM stadium, where they were gunned down 2-1 by a Hull team that had only 13 players fit for the Premier League kick-off fixture.
Ahmed Musa’s Leicester City could have started the defence of their league title on a better note if they had made good use of the numerous chances that came their way in the first half.
With Claudio Ranieri boys unable to score, Hull’s Adama Diomande thought them how to do it, and in spectacular fashion, with an over-head kick just before halftime in the 45th minute to put his team 1-0 up.
On resumption of play, referee Mike Dean gifted Leicester a life-line by awarding a cheap penalty, which was converted by Arsenal target, Mahrez to level affairs 1-1.
But when it looked like the league champions were back in control of the game, Robert Snodgrass struck in the 57th minute to send a warning to the Foxes that this season will be a lot different. Hull held on to their lead till the end.
Leicester will try to seek redemption next week when Arsenal visits the Kingpower stadium.
