Chelsea Back Their Desire For Koulibaly With Action In Club-Record £60 Million Deal

Arsenal target Koulibaly talks up Napoli exitKalidou Koulibaly

Chelsea have backed their desire for their main summer target, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly with action for what could be a club-record fee of £60 million.

In a bid to strengthen his team, new manager Antonio Conte desperately wants the French-born Senegalese, so that he could revert to his back-three formation, which he had favoured during his times with Juventus and Italy.

Koulibaly, 25, has been Chelsea’s main defensive target all summer after it became clear that John Stones would be moving to Manchester City.

According to The Telegraph Chelsea’s bid is around £60 million, as sources told the newspaper. then If it goes through, it would eclipse the club record £50 million paid to Liverpool for striker Fernando Torres in January 2011.

It would also be far more than the £47.5 million City paid for Stones. It therefore goes to underline how badly Conte wants to strengthen his defence.
