Crystal Palace Agree £32m Fee For Liverpool’s Benteke

Christian Benteke will now have a medical and talk personal terms with Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have agreed a fee of £32m with Liverpool for Christian Benteke, which will make the striker the most expensive player in their history. Benteke, who had not been favoured under new manager Jurgen Klopp, will now have a medical in London.

Liverpool paid Aston Villa £32.5m for the Belgium international in 2015.

The Reds manager said earlier this month “it makes sense” for Benteke to find another club. Palace are prepared to pay an initial £27m plus £5m in add-ons.

Alan Pardew badly needs a striker after the departures of Emmanuel Adebayor, Dwight Gayle and Marouane Chamakh, and he has money to spend after selling Yannick Bolasie to Everton for £28m.

Benteke was not considered by for Sunday’s win at Arsenal despite the absence of Daniel Sturridge.
