
Nigeria’s U-17 team have failed to qualify for next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup, after losing 3-1 in Niamey to Junior Menas of Niger Republic in the second leg of their qualifier.
The Golden Eaglets won the first leg 1-0 and needed only a draw to go into the third round of the qualifying series.
The defeat means that the boys coached by Manu Garba’s will also not be at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
Nigeria are defending champions, after winning the 2015 edition hosted in Chile.
It is the first time the country will miss out of the U-17 AFCON, U-20 AFCON and the main AFCON events.
