Times have really changed for Nigerians. Life has become tougher; insecurity has worsened. Yet the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is deluded about how things have become better for the people.
Fulani herdsmen and cultists have become outlaws in North-Central and Southern Nigeria. Nigerians in those parts of the country now live under their mercy. Needless to talk about the fate of fellow Nigerians in the North-East.
The Nigerian State can no longer protect its citizens, even the law abiding ones. Nigerians are now being slaughtered daily like chickens. This week eight innocent citizens were burnt to death in Zamfara State on the flimsy excuse that they blasphemed Prophet Mohamed.
And on Wednesday, unidentified gunmen killed and set ablaze two persons in Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly happened in the early hours at a students’ hostel in Mgbirichi, an adjoining town to Umuagwo.
Some hoodlums were said to have attacked and killed one Onumajuru Chibueze and his visiting friend, Chris Ukpabi, at the Infinity Students Hostel.
Onumajuru reportedly was employed as a typist at the Polytechnic’s School of Environmental Sciences. And Ukpabi just graduated from the Department of Office, Technology and Management.
Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew, confirmed the incident.
He said: “We have the report of the inhuman act. Presently, we are investigating the matter, with a view to ascertaining the circumstances that led to the deaths and the subsequent inferno that engulfed the two victims.”
