A US commercial flight to Cuba in more than 50 years has landed in Cuba. JetBlue Flight 387 just touched down in Santa Clara, Cuba after departing Ft. Lauderdale earlier this morning with about 150 passengers.
On board was US Transport Secretary, Anthony. airline executives, VIPs and media. Only about 60 were regular passengers.
Checkpointcharley gathers that there ´was singing and clapping all through the 45minutes flight after the flight left Ft. Lauderdale to a cannon salute, a tradition in celebrating a ship’s or aircraft’s special occasion.
It is now left to be seen how Cuba will handle the large number of flights from US as more airlines key into the opportunity.
