A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Rotimi Akeredolu has floored APC national leader Bola Tinubu by emerging the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the November 26, 2016 governorship election in Ondo State.
Akeredolu who once contested for governor in 2012 under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, got 669 votes in a governorship primary held at the International Event Centre, Akure, the Ondo State capital on Saturday.
He defeated Tinubu’s anointed candidate, Segun Abraham who scored 635. Olusola Oke came third, scoring 583, while Ajayi Boroffice finished fourth with 471 votes.
Twenty-four candidates contested the primary but Paul Akintelure was later announced to have officially stepped down.
