The Indepensent ELectoral Commission (INEC) has said it is going ahead with Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State despite security concerns expressed by the DSS and police.
This was disclosed today by INEC’s director of publicity and voters’ education, Oluwole Ozzi.
The DSS and Nigeria Police had on Wednesday advised INEC to postpone the elections citing security concerns.
Nigeria’s security agencies are very strange. Even if there are security threats, the right thing to do is not to run for the mountains but to do to their job by providing security.
Have you ever heard that a civilised nation postponed elections merely because some miscreants are planning attack?
