Mario Balotelli has said moving to Liverpool was “the worst mistake of my life”, after he got a brace on his Nice debut on Sunday.
Balotelli, 26, moved to Anfield for £16m in 2014, but scored just four goals in 28 appearances for the Reds.
Brendan Rodgers’s style of play did not allow him to flourish and their personal relationship did not help matters, Barlotelli has revealed. He was loaned out to AC Milan last season but to Merseyside this summer. However, new coach, Jurgen Klopp left him out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States and was also dropped for other pre-season friendlies before he eventually got the chance to move to French club Nice on transfer Deadline Day.
Speaking after scoring twice on a successful debut on Sunday for Nice as his new club defeated Marseille 3-2 Balotelli said: “It was the worst mistake of my life (joining Liverpool).
“Apart from the fans, who were fantastic with me, I must be honest, and the players, who I had a good rapport with, I didn’t like the club.
“I had two coaches, Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp. As people they didn’t make a good impression on me. I didn’t get along with them.”
