A former governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), seen by analysts as a move to save his ass, as he is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for corruption.
Though Dariye, who represents Plateau Central in the Senate, says he defected due to the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party.
His defection was announced by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on the floor of the upper chamber of the National Assembly today.
The former governor is facing charges bordering on the alleged diversion of Plateau State’s ecological fund estimated at N1.16bn while he was at the helm in the state.
