The Senate on Tuesday sounded a note of warning to President Muhammadu Buhari by voting against the sales of National assets as a way out of the economic recession.
The Senate made its stand known, following a motion by Minority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, asking the upper legislative chamber to reject the proposal for the sale of the nation’s assets by President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Ndume said,“I move that the senate oppose the sale of national assets to shore up our reserves.”
Senate President Bukola Saraki put the motion to a voice vote to which “the ayes had it”.
It has now become a slogan of the Buhari government that sale of national assets is the only way out of the present recession.
