Newly crowned world number one, Angelique Kerber of Germany has learned how hard it is to stay at the top after Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova upset her 6-3, 6-4 in the WTA Finals in Singapore on Sunday to take the trophy.
Cibulkova, runner-up at the 2014 Australian Open, beat Kerber just a week after losing to her in the round-robin stage.
