Former Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, is dead. He died in a private hospital in Abuja on Monday night, family sources have said. He was aged 93. The cause of his death was not disclosed.
The deceased is the father to the detained former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who is currently facing corruption and money laundering charges.
Dasuki was the 18th Sultan of Sokoto but was deposed as Sultan by the former military dictator, Sani Abacha, in 1996.
He is expected to be buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday.
