Boko Haram Has Not Been Defeated – Chibok Chairman

Contrary to claims by the Nigerian military, the Caretaker Chairman of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno state, Mr. Yaga Yarkawa, has said that Boko Haram has not been defeated. He pointed out that with the recent attacks on Thlaimaklama village, which has displaced many people from their homes, Chibok has again come under the control of Boko Haram.

Yarkawa talking to DAILY POST Monday night in Maiduguri, while visiting to receive food items donated by the State Government for onward delivery to displaced persons, lamented the renewed attacks by Boko Haram fighters.

Contrary to claims by the military that Chibok is safe, he disclosed that there have been series of renewed attacks on communities of Kuburmbula, Tsilari, Kamdzilari, Kuburnvwu , Kautikari, Kwada, Buftari and Kakulmari villages bordering Damboa and Sambia forest.

According to hm the latest attack was the one that took place at the weekend in Thlaimaklama village, with terrorists carting away 15 vehicles loaded with food items, and set ablaze three vehicles and several houses without confrontation from security operatives.

The caretaker chairman said apart from attacking his communities these days, the terrorists have resorted to burning farm produce of his people who had suffered during the planting season.

On what is being done by the council to address the recurrent attacks, he said, “Due to the exploits of the insurgents, Kuburmbula, Tsilari, Kamdzilari, Kuburnvwu , Kautikari, Kwada, Buftari and Kakulmari villages bordering Damboa and Sambia forest, and Klaimakla communities are still fully under the control of terrorists.”
