Three Bolivians were on Tuesday sentenced to six years imprisonment by a Federal High Court Lagos for dealing in illicit drugs. The convicts are Reuben Jorge, Yhugo Moreno and Yerko Dorado.
Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo affirmed their guilty plea to the two counts pressed against them by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
They have been in detention since February 3, 2013 when they were arrested by operatives of the NDLEA at Daily Times Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos. They were alleged to have engaged themselves there in unlawful production of Ephedrine and Methamphetamine.
Their activities violated Section 22 (a) of the NDLEA Act and were liable to be jailed for life or imprisoned for not less than 25 years.
But in her discretion, Justice Oguntoyinbo imposed a lesser jail term and ordered that the sentence will run concurrently. It starts from February 3, 2013 when they were arrested, the judge said.
