A truck, with Polish registration number, on Monday evening ran into a Christmas market in Berlin, leaving nine dead and 50 other wounded.
German Police describes it as a severe incident.
Eye witness say the incidence is remniscent of the terror attack in Nice.
The targeted is one of the two biggest Christmas markets in Berlin, located at the popular Europa Center.
Rescue operation is ongoing. The police assumes there are many casualities.
Julian Reichelt, Editor-in-Chief of Bild told CNN that the driver of the truck has left the scene of the incident, which lends credence to the theory that it might be a terror attack.
The Police later said they are treating the incident as a terror attack. They also said that a suspect is now in custody.
